CINE PEDAL BRASIL

Cine Pedal Brasil is an open air and roving free film festival, where the required energy to project the films is generated by the audience members themselves through the use of bicycles.

​

This initiative’s drive is to provide access to cinema for all audiences, whilst raising environmental awareness through the generation of clean energy.

Cine Pedal Brasil is an interactive, collaborative, and inclusive experience, where the spectator is invited to reflect on the relationship between their own energy consumption and the presence of technology in their lives.  The bikes, when pedaled by the audience members, produce clean energy which powers all the equipment needed for the film projection.

Human energy is converted into kinetic and mechanical energy, highlighting in a single act an advanced concept of sustainability.  

Besides generating the necessary energy for the festival, the public are also encouraged to use bicycles as a means of transportation to attend the events, thus also promoting awareness about sustainable urban transportation.
